New Horizons Color Images of Pluto
New Horizons just released color images
of Pluto and they show two very different faces in the far and mysterious dwarf
planet with two distinguishable parts and a series of spots that looks very
intriguing and fascinating. These spots are about 480 kilometers in diameter
having a surface roughly the size of the state of Missouri as NASA has estimated
or which is similar that of the country of Uruguay more or less.
Scientists have not seen these spots
as yet so far and they are making the New Horizon Team very excited, interestingly
the spots along the equator that are evenly spaced. Also worthy of note is the dramatic
difference in the colors and appearance when the darker Charon is compared to
the much lighter Pluto.
New Horizons is now less than 15
million kilometers from the Pluto system and working perfectly, as it is demonstrated
by the work carried out by its instrument like the Pluto Energetic Particle
Spectrometer Science Investigation (PEPSSI) sending back data daily, sampling
the space environment near Pluto and its atmosphere.

Horizons acaba de revelar nuevas imágenes a color de Plutón que muestran dos
caras muy diferentes en el lejano y misterioso planeta enano con dos partes
diferenciadas y una serie de puntos que se ven muy interesantes y fascinantes. Estas
marcas son de unos 480 kilómetros en diámetro teniendo aproximadamente la superficie
del Estado de Misuri como lo ha estimado la NASA o más o menos como el tamaño
de Uruguay.
Los científicos
no habían visto puntos o marcas como estas hasta ahora lo que ha hecho que el equipo
de New Horizons este muy animado, interesantemente estas marcas están distribuidas
de forma equitativa en el equador. Tambien digno de mención es la diferencia de
color entre el oscuro Charón y el más claro Plutón.
New
Horizons esta ahora a menos de 15 millones de kilometros del sistema de Plutón
y trabjando en perfectas condiciones, como lo demuestra el “Energetic Particle
Spectrometer Science Investigation” (PEPSSI) mandando información diaria,
analizando el medio ambiente cercano a Plutón y su atmosfera.
