Conjunction of Jupiter and Venus June 30, 2015

On Tuesday, June 30, 2015, there was a conjunction of Jupiter and Venus. This celestial event consists of the apparent proximity on two objects in the skies. The Conjunctions have no real astronomical value. However they can be spectacular and very nice indeed to observe. On this occasion the planets appeared to be so close to each other that one could place a finger on then and cover both planets, of course in reality both planets are hundreds of millions of kilometers apart. 

There won’t be another conjunction so close of both planets until August 27th of 2016. Watch out for another spectacular event at dusk on the night of the 18th of July when the waxing crescent Moon, Venus, Jupiter and the bright star of Leo, Regulus will be all very close in the sky, a beautiful site not to be missed.

El jueves, 30 de Junio, 2015, hubo una conjunción de Venus y Júpiter. Este evento celestial consiste en la proximidad aparente de dos objetos en el cielo. Las conjunciones no tienen un valor astronómico real. Sin embargo pueden ser especulares y muy bellas de observar en efecto. En esta ocasión los planetas aparentaban estar tan cerca el uno del otro que poniendo un dedo se cubrían ambos., por supuesto en realidad ambos planetas están separados cientos de millones de kilómetros.

No habrá otra conjunción tan cercana de ambos planetas hasta el 27 de Agosto de 2016. Atentos a otro espectacular evento al atardecer en la noche del 18 de Julio cuando la fina creciente Luna, Venus, Jupiter y la brillante estrella de Leo, Regulus estarán muy cercanos en el cielo, un bello espectáculo para no perderse.
