Perseids meteor shower of 2017

In 2017, the Perseids were a little more difficult to see due to the presence of the moon, which was three-quarters full rising a couple of hours after observing time, locally in Seville. The rates according to NASA meteor expert Bill Cooke, were expected to be about half what they would be normally, because of the bright moonlight, "Instead of 80 to 100, [there will be] 40 to 50 per hour. And that's just because the moon's going to wash out the fainter ones."

"But the good news is that the Perseids are rich in fireballs; otherwise the moon would really mess with them," Cooke added.

This observation took place at the Observatory of El Castillo de las Guardas in Peroamigo, Seville, a faily dark place with a radiance in 10-9 watt/cm2 *sr of just 0.38 at an elevation of 474 meters.
